A home theater is an equipment that will make your house rocking with the digital sound effects. When watching a movie, when listening to your favourite music... a home theater system will enhance the sound clarity and will create a Dolby digital sound waving in your rooms. If you're looking for a very affordable and branded Home Theater System in a Box for your dorm room or loft which has a good sound quality, then the Panasonic SC-HT40 will probably be the right choice.

The Panasonic SC-HT40 consists of an AV receiver, right and left channel speakers, satellite speakers, center channel speakers, and sub-woofer speakers. The Panasonic SC-HT40 has a total of 800 watts output and 5.1 Channel Surround Sound.
If you're looking for a very affordable and branded Home Theater System, the Panasonic SC-HT40 will probably be the right choice.
There's no DVD included with the Panasonic SC-HT40 which is probably a plus for those who already own a DVD player. The Panasonic SC-HT40 has built in DTS, Dolby Digital, and Dolby Pro Logic II audio decoders. You will get two analog stereo inputs, one analog stereo output, a coaxial digital input, three digital inputs and two optical digital inputs. Panasonic SC-HT40 is able to deliver great sounds. One feature to avoid on the SC-HT640W is the Surround Music option. It's supposed to deliver music with equal intensity from all five of the speakers.

The left- and right-front satellite speakers are just 5.2 inches tall, and the center speaker is 10.5 inches wide; the three speakers can be wall-mounted or placed on shelves or stands. The medium-density fiberboard sub-woofer grabs the most floor space; it's 7.25 inches wide, 15.5 tall, and 10.5 deep. The satellites each use a single 2.5-inch woofer, while the center speaker has two; they're all tweeter-less designs. The sub-woofer has a front-mounted 6.5-inch woofer.

Panasonic has chosen to go with a simple, uncluttered look for the system. The receiver's face is peppered with just a few buttons and controls, and the big remote's color-coded buttons and handy layout make for above-average ease of use. Panasonic can be used only with the speakers that come with the system.

A unique wireless rear speaker makes the Panasonic SC-HT640W an impressive value for anyone in the market. While the single-box design of the rear speakers eliminates all the wires except a power cord, the resulting sound isn't as spacious as that of conventionally placed surround speakers and the wireless signal may blink out on occasion. And like most bargain, all-in-one, home-theater systems, the Panasonic SC-HT640W offers only meager connections for external A/V devices.
