It seven in the morning and I hear my alarm ringing. I look for my mobile phone and then I tap it off. Well, this would not have sounded anyway strange to you, right and a new study has gone on to prove that at the rate, people are switching to mobile phones to use as alarms, the real alarm clocks soon might become a thing of the past.
The study said that time is running out for the traditional alarm clock, thanks to the scientific miracle called mobile phone. As part of the study, nearly 1,500 were interviewed and on basis of the evaluation, it was deduced that the timepiece that charts its origins back to Ancient China, is on its way to disappear from people's bedside cabinets.
Rightmobilephone.co.uk, who conducted the survey found that, of those polled 82 per cent owned a mobile phone, with over half of them using it as an alarm clock.
Robert Egan, a fellow of the British Horological Institute, has witnessed the slide in their popularity. "It is a trend that we are seeing, people are even using mobiles instead of wrist watches now. It's just another sign of modern technology taking over from mechanical things."

The survey also found that at least one in every five individuals were using, their cellphone to access the Internet, taking videos or photos, and also to wake them up in the morning.
Neil McHugh, Co-managing director, said: "Phones have evolved from simple communication handsets to now provide us with a wealth of information on the go and schedule our social occasions.
"The advances in mobile technology may in the near future threaten such traditional stand alone devices such as cameras, music players and alarm clocks."
