S.G.P. Jafry - Veteran In Entertainment Business

S.G.P. Jafry, president of Jafry Communications that is based in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada is a distinguished star in the entertainment industry. He showed the world how the entertainment industry can promote multiculturalism, peace and harmony between people from different religion, culture or faiths. The veteran in entertainment business completed his forty years of service in the field on April 05,2007.

The Indian born Jafry made Pakistan and Canada also as his homelands. He reached Canada in 1966 to become the manager of a textile industry. However destiny had something else in store for him. The entrepreneur got fired from his initial job due to over qualification. Very soon, he was opening a new realm in his career for the world benefit.


Jafry realized the lack of entertainment opportunities for people from the sub continent in Canada. He initiated an entertainment business by arranging movies, shows and theatre programmes. During this time he was honoured for conducting the first live show of Lata Mangeshkar in Canada.

S.G.P Jafry initially centered his entertainment business on radio programmes. Since three years after the launch of his entertainment industry (1969) the company has produced more than 3,500 one-hour radio programmes. In 1979 Jafry communications started television programmes. It has already produced over 7,000 half-hour TV programmes. Since 1969 they have produced over 15 TV Series, over 6767 half hour TV programs and over 3124 one hour Radio programs.

Jafry Communications programmes were mainly aimed at Indo-Pak entertainment. The company has regularly produced inter-faith programmes. Jafri Communications has produced one-hour special programmes on Muslim, Sikhs, and Hindus besides a century of Sikhs in Canada. He has also presented a religious TV programme on the internet. He has broadcasted the history of Saudi Arabia on its National Day in 1997.

Jafry communications closed entertainment programmes in 2000. Now they are a national broadcaster presenting three TV programmes. They have two, on, cable in Toronto, London and Ottawa. They have one more broadcast all over Canada using the CTS. The emergence of Muslim media after the 9/11 situation also opened wide popularity for Jafry communications. The post 9/11 situation programmes included definitive information like the role of religion in the betterment of mankind, and service to mankind.

S.G.P.Jafri also is very active and productive in fund-raising for humanitarian causes and purposes across international borders. He Helped beyond call in the promotion of Imran Khan's Show for Fund raising for Shokat Memorial Cancer Hospital. He managed a Program on AFMI & SMA to raise funds for Bosnia with the Help of Erik Margolice, Dilip Kumar and Hon. V P. Singh Prime minister of India (1989-90), on Oct. 15, 1995. He was the administrator of first Indian and Pakistani Cricket test match in Toronto.

Canadian House of Commons congratulated S.G.P. Jafry's activities in a statement in 1995. Between 1960 and 2007, S G P Jafry appeared 264 Times in 80 Papers in 24 Cities in 7 Countries in 3 Continents ( Asia, Europe & North America ) for his Community and Humanitarian services. Since 1975 S G P Jafry Raised more than 7 Million Canadian dollars for Religious (Hindu, Muslim & Sikh) and Social organizations of Canada. The veteran in entertainment business has more to offer.
