Even before I could start the conversation, "'The countdown begins!'. May 29 is the date I'm looking forward to," says this Miss India International of 2005, Vaishali Desai. Needless to say, she is both excited and thrilled. Why? Well, you got to read along as you get your answer.
Having already heard so much about this young starlet, even before she steps into the world of Bollywood, we, at 'oneindia' couldn't resist but talk to the actress herself, solely with one objective: to wangle out as many a information as possible. Vashu Bhagnani calls her 'one of the most talented actress', while Vivek Sharma couldn't negate himself from giving her the title of 'one-take-artist' in the last interview he had with us.
Ooooops! Did you know, Vaishali plays the lead role in the soon-to-be released romantic thriller of Vivek Sharma, Kal Kisne Dekha? In the movie, she shares the screen with Vashu Bhagnani's son, Jackky, who will also debut with the move. Ah! Two new actors, and a debut performance. Sounds interesting, doesn't it? If one is known for a producer-father like Vashu Bhagnani, then Vaishali, too, comes with that gene for film industry. How? Well, by now, a lot of you must have known that she is the grand niece of the prodigy – Manmohan Desai – one of the renowned directors and producers that the Indian cinema has, or will ever see.
In an exclusive interview with 'oneindia', Vaishali Desai unfolds some chapters in the book she has punctuated with her life.
O.I. So, the wait finally seems to be over? V.D. Hmmm... yes. the movie, Kal Kisne Dekha, will be released on May 29 – definitely a day to be looking forward to. But the journey has just started, and I have a long way to go.
O.I. So, Vaishali is ambitious? V.D. I am greedy and ambitious. And who is not? I have waited for quite some time to be in the film industry. The wait finally seems to be over. I'm all excited about it.

O.I. Wait...? Is this not what you wanted?
V.D.? I was never sure if movies were the ultimate destination, but I had always liked the whole idea of being a film actor some day. There was a strange magnetic pull, which I didn't know till recently. But now I know; this is where I have to live.
O.I. Manmohan Desai is a prodigy. Any inspiration from him?
V.D. I have had some lovely memories with him. But the time I had spent time is too less to actually opine on something like this, nay, I was too young to actually understand the nitty gritty of movie industry then. You can say, it was more like a childish conversation. But having watched most of his movies today, the word 'inspiration' will be an understatement. His work has been a great source of inspiration.
O.I. How has it been working for kal Kisne Dekha ?
V.D. It's absolutely fantastic. Vivek Sir has been more like a mentor than a director – a great learning experience, if I may say. He has given me a lot of freedom to work the way I want. He couldn't be more casual than this.
O.I. And Jackky Bhagnani?
V.D. A great learning experience. We both are new, and obviously make mistake. But we have been very critical with our work. We criticize each other a lot.
O.I. So, all happy?
V.D. I don't have a reason to be upset. I don't think if a lot of the newcomers get the chance of doing what they like the most. I am an exception. So far the road ahead has been the way I have longed for.
