Richard Menon's latest documentary film and book "The Indian Playboy: Anatomy of a Porn Film" is on release from 4th July 2007. The Indian born director at Los Angeles is the director of "Miss 2" a film on model aviation that made it to the New York International Film Festival 2004 . Richard Menon shares his ideas in an exclusive interview with Oneindia.in, during the proximity of the release of his new film "The Indian Playboy: Anatomy of a Porn Film".

How did the concept of "The Indian Playboy" originate?
I needed to come up with a new DVD product quickly. So I decided to make use of some existing footage and add some new scenes to come up with a DVD that shows people how adult films are produced. When the film was being put together, I started looking for a title. The title " The Indian Playboy" came to my mind as a great choice because it describes me and my film in a way. The title would also attract attention.

Can you tell us something about the "The Indian Playboy", the book and the movie?

	It was not difficult for me to talk about sex or indulge in it or propagate it.

The film is set of interviews with my family, friends, landlord, production crew., investors etc and with myself.

In the process we talk about my advent into adult erotic film making, reactions of people around me, how a porn film is produced,directed, marketed etc. You can see me directing an adult video shoot also and learn from it. The book is promotional item that we offer free to those that buy the film DVD. It answers more than 450 Questions related to the Indian Playboy, Adult Film Making & Entrepreneurship.

What is the message that you convey through "The Indian Playboy"?
It is just simple, true story of a conservative Indian who got fed up with the corporate world and decided to start his own business in the USA. It just so happens that i am the first Indian to produce and direct porn films and start an adult entertainment business in the USA. My goal is to inspire people to follow their dreams.

Being brought up as a conventional american Indian, how did you break up the Indian taboos regarding sex?
I have always lived a free, honest life wherever I was. It was not difficult for me to talk about sex or indulge in it or propagate it. Of course in the USA there are more opportunities to express yourself freely.

Is there any specific differences between the adult movie business in India and U.S.A?
I guess in India everything is underground since it is not legal. In the US it is very highly regulated industry and employs hundreds of thousands of people directly or indirectly. The word porn is slowly fading and we refer to such films as adult or erotic.

Are you planning to extend the industry to India also?
I do not plan to shoot any adult films in India because I respect the law in India and the sentiments of our people. However, I will do some of my conceptual and design work in India.

Do you think there is a need of change in the depiction in adult movies or in the outlook of the society? It takes time for a society to emerge. We already have Playboy Magazine reportedly coming to India. Gradually the sexual revolution in media will begin. People are ultimately the same everywhere.

Do adult movies have any significant place in society?
Sex is basic human need. Adult films strive to cater to that need.
